The richness of Toluviejo Caverns
The richness of Toluviejo Caverns (Nature)
Toluviejo is the oldest municipality in the Sucre department. In ancient times, the Toluviejo Caverns were home to the Zenú indigenous people of the Cariban family. Today, the main activity in the caverns is tourism, but they are also of interest to local miners searching for marble, lime, and other minerals found in this ecosystem. The caverns house a rich variety of plant species, including gallery forests and hillside forests. They also host several species of wildlife.
